Job Opening: Boy Mentor at Youth With A Purpose (YWAP)

Youth With A Purpose (YWAP), known for its dynamic approach to youth development through arts, is excited to announce an opening for a Boy Mentor in our after-school program. This position is integral to our commitment to nurturing young talents in performing arts while providing a supportive environment for personal and social development. Situated in the heart of our community activities, this role requires a dedicated individual who can inspire and guide young boys as they explore their potentials in dance, music, acting, art, and theatre arts.

The role of the Boy Mentor is not just a job but a calling for those passionate about making a difference in young lives. Note that this position is onsite; it is not a remote job. Candidates will be expected to actively engage with participants in face-to-face sessions, ensuring a responsive and supportive environment tailored to the needs of each child and adolescent.

• Develop and implement engaging programs that incorporate various aspects of performing arts to boost creativity and personal growth among boys.
• Act as a role model, setting a positive example in all areas including ethical behavior, punctuality, and respect for others.
• Identify individual needs of the boys and adapt mentoring approaches accordingly to support their emotional, social, and educational development.
• Organize and facilitate group activities that promote teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Monitor progress of mentees through regular check-ins and assessments to tailor support effectively.
• Foster a safe and inclusive environment that respects diversity and promotes mutual understanding and cooperation.
• Communicate consistently with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders about participant progress and challenges.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge related to youth mentoring and performing arts.

• Dance, acting, music, art, or theater arts experience required.
• Experience working with children or adolescents in various settings (e.g., childcare, mentoring programs).
• Familiarity with conflict management techniques to effectively address disputes among youth.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with young individuals.

Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week

• 4 hour shift

• After school

• Choose your own hours

• Evenings as needed

• Evening shift
