Start Your K&A Career We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Designer to join our team at K&A Engineering in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations Prepare physical layout drawings for substations and produce electrical plans and sections as well as grounding and conduit drawings. Prepare protection & control (P&C) design drawings for substations, including one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts. Develop bills of material and review engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation for accuracy and completeness. Responsibilities will include the preparation of the following substation drawings: Substation General Arrangement Substation AIS design Substation Protection & Control One-Line and Three-Line Diagrams P&C Schematics (AC/DC) Relay Panel Layouts and Wiring Diagrams Control Building Layouts for P&C Equipment Substation Electrical Equipment Plans Substation Section Views (Elevations) Substation Detailed Bill of Material Substation Grounding Plan Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section What We’re Looking For 2 year associates degree in engineering technology or drafting is preferred Experience in utility substation design or EPC projects is a plus Deep understanding of substation physical design, protection/control design, and equipment specifications. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD tools. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, vendor data, and technical documents. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Pay Range $65,000-75,000/year Why Join K&A?
