Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Charge Nurse)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit, including LDR rooms, OB Triage, antepartum, OR suites, and PACU
• Regularly serve in the Charge Nurse role , overseeing unit operations and staff coordination during night shifts
• Manage care for induction patients, high-risk antepartum patients, and OB triage cases, with average daily deliveries around 7 and census frequently reaching up to 14 patients
• Utilize Epic electronic health records for all clinical documentation
• Float to like units within the facility or affiliate locations as needed to meet census demands
• Participate in holiday coverage, with an expectation to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license (pending license accepted for submission; license must be in hand prior to offer)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Hepatitis B vaccine required; titers and declinations are not accepted
• 2 references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required prior to start
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Charge Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery or a comparable OB setting strongly preferred
• Experience with high-risk obstetric populations, including antepartum and OB triage patients
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
