Job Summary Full‑time Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Position Details Self‑preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance. Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among surgical staff. Continuous investment in equipment and patient positioning to support safety and efficiency. Rounding with unit leaders (including charge nurses) to incorporate staff input on patient care and workflow improvements. On‑call required during select non‑business hours. Responsibilities Evaluate patients prior to surgery. Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri‑operative process. Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification. Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols per hospital policy. Recognize and respond to patient emergencies. Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement initiatives. Work as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team (providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others). Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently. Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes and care provided thoroughly. Educate patients and families/caregivers about medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures. Qualifications Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri, active and in good standing. Basic Cardiac Life Support (RN) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
