Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic radiologic images, preparing and instructing patients for examinations, and assisting Radiologists during procedures. This role requires proficiency in operating radiology equipment, maintaining patient confidentiality, and collaborating effectively with the healthcare team. The technologist ensures timely completion of procedures while supporting department efficiency and patient care. Responsibilities:

• Select exposure factors and position patients to consistently produce diagnostic quality radiologic images.
• Prepare and instruct patients for examinations and assist Radiologists during interventional procedures.
• Operate all radiology equipment competently and report any malfunctions promptly.
• Complete assigned procedures efficiently and assist with room turnover and departmental tasks during downtime.
• Maintain medication security, ensuring access only to authorized personnel.
• Provide healthcare services competently across all age groups and demonstrate professional interpersonal relationships.
• Utilize Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS effectively for documentation and information management.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities and maintain confidentiality using secure passwords.
• Handle technical telephone inquiries from physicians and hospital personnel with professionalism and good etiquette.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Two (2) years of relevant experience as a Radiology Technologist.
• Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Technician license accepted in the state of New York.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR).

Special Considerations:

• On-call and callback duties required, including holiday coverage as per unit needs.

• Commitment to patient rights and sensitivity in all patient interactions.

Scheduling:

• Five 8-hour day shifts per week.
• On-call schedule includes 5-7 call shifts per 7-week block, with 2-4 weekend call shifts.
