Behavior Technician
Healthy Minds ABA
Job Description
Job Description
Overview
Healthy Minds is seeking Behavior Technicians to provide one-on-one ABA support to children and families in Alameda and nearby East Bay communities.
This is a hands-on, direct-care role . Behavior Technicians work directly with clients to implement individualized treatment goals under clinical supervision while collecting behavioral and skill-acquisition data used by the clinical team to monitor progress and guide treatment.
We currently have several weekday afternoon and after-school staffing needs, including home-based and school/daycare-based cases. Many current opportunities begin around 2:50–3:30 PM and continue into the early evening, Monday through Friday.
Candidates with consistent weekday afternoon availability are especially encouraged to apply.
We welcome experienced Behavior Technicians and RBTs, as well as candidates with backgrounds in psychology, child development, education, behavioral health, special education, caregiving, social services, or related fields. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized one-on-one ABA support to children in home, school, and/or approved community settings
- Implement individualized skill-acquisition and behavior-support procedures as outlined in the client’s treatment plan and under clinical supervision
- Support treatment goals related to communication, social and adaptive skills, daily living skills, independence, and behavior
- Respond to challenging behavior using approved procedures and guidance from the clinical team
- Collect accurate behavioral and skill-acquisition data throughout sessions
- Complete timely and accurate clinical session notes and documentation
- Build rapport with clients through play, preferred activities, reinforcement, prompting, and individualized teaching strategies
- Follow established treatment plans and clinical recommendations
- Communicate relevant session information with supervisors and caregivers
- Maintain reliable attendance, professional communication, and appropriate client boundaries
- Accept and implement clinical feedback as client needs and treatment goals evolve
Schedule & Case Opportunities
Current East Bay needs may include:
- Weekday after-school home-based ABA services
- School/daycare-based support in Alameda
- Additional afternoon opportunities in nearby East Bay communities, including Oakland and surrounding areas
- Opportunities to build additional hours through compatible client assignments when available
Schedules are based on individual client needs, authorized service hours, family availability, and candidate availability. Team members are thoughtfully matched based on location, relevant experience, scheduling compatibility, and client needs.
Because ABA services are scheduled around individual clients and families, schedules may not follow a traditional continuous 9-to-5 workday.
Part-time and fuller schedules may be available depending on current client needs, location, and employee availability. Specific weekly hours may vary by client assignment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, individuals with autism or developmental disabilities, behavioral health, special education, caregiving, or related populations is preferred
- Education or experience in psychology, child development, education, social work, behavior analysis, or a related field is a plus
- Previous ABA or Behavior Technician experience is preferred but not required for every opportunity
- Active RBT certification is valued and may be required for certain client assignments, but is not required for all Behavior Technician opportunities
- Ability to follow treatment protocols, collect accurate data, maintain professional documentation, and accept clinical feedback
- Strong communication skills, reliability, professionalism, and willingness to learn
- Ability to reliably travel to assigned client homes, schools, or approved service locations throughout Alameda and the surrounding East Bay area
- Consistent weekday afternoon availability, particularly beginning around 3:00 PM, is strongly preferred for several current openings
Some client assignments may require additional background clearance, training, credentialing, or funding-source requirements before placement. These requirements will be discussed with candidates before assignment.
Pay & Benefits
$23–$29/hour
Starting rates are determined based on relevant experience, education and training, active credentials or certifications, and other job-related assignment requirements.
- 40 hours of paid sick time per year, with use available after 90 days of employment, consistent with applicable law and company policy
- Health benefit/HRA eligibility after 90 days for employees working 35+ hours per week, subject to applicable plan terms
- Flexible scheduling and case opportunities based on client availability
- Thoughtful client/therapist matching
- Ongoing BCBA and clinical supervision
- Support from both clinical and administrative teams
- Opportunities for additional case hours as compatible openings become available
- Mileage reimbursement between client sessions when applicable
- Professional growth and experience-building opportunities
- Support and connection within a smaller team environment
