This role involves running diagnostic tests, maintaining and replacing key vehicle systems (e.g., engine, transmission, steering, brakes), and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the fleet. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on diesel trucks and trailers. Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections in accordance with DOT standards. Run diagnostic tests to determine vehicle issues and execute necessary repairs. Replace and rebuild components including engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and braking systems. Maintain detailed service records and documentation. Coordinate third‑party repair services when necessary. Support and lead other technicians in the absence of a supervisor or manager. Configure and maintain test stations and systems for verifying repair accuracy. Analyze test data to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) procedures and company policies. Use assertive communication (including stop‑work authority) when concerns or safety risks arise. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational goals. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Technical training or certifications in diesel mechanics preferred. Mechanical experience; oil and gas industry experience a plus. Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and trailer systems. Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance reporting. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Proficient with diagnostic tools and repair procedures. Critical Tasks / Performance Goals May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on operational needs. Effective communicator with the ability to mentor junior team members. Detail‑oriented and organized with accurate record‑keeping skills. Commitment to safety and quality standards. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Stay current on new diagnostic techniques and equipment through training or manufacturer updates. Work Environment & Physical Demands Exposure to moving machinery, outdoor weather, diesel fumes, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise. Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs. Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crawling. Requires use of respirators, safety gear, and visual precision for various tasks.
