The Forklift Operator in the Shipping department is responsible for accurately and safely loading trucks and transporting glass throughout the facility to meet daily shipping requirements at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry. Essential Functions include adhering to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines, inspecting racks for quality and verifying the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations, safely operating powered equipment while transporting glass throughout the facility and loading and unloading products, ensuring the driving zone is clear from debris or hazards by maintaining a clean work environment, operating manipulator to pack glass into wooden crates, if necessary, ensuring all rejected glass is dumped into recycling bins, utilizing handheld scanners when loading trailers to create bill of lading, communicating with IG department to stage racks required for production, utilizing the wrap machine or shrink-wrap racks manually, ensuring open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor, willingness to seek out additional roles and responsibilities within your department, ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered, assisting the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives, strong organization and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English, performing housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area, and regular in-person attendance. May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines. Workplace Environment includes being frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects, noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant, may be required to move racks outdoors and indoors, and a baseline audiogram will be completed and may require yearly maintenance testing provided by Cardinal Glass Industries. Qualifications include minimum of two years of sit-down forklift experience, consistent work history in glass manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred, must be 18 years or older, high school diploma or GED preferred, and physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climbing/reaching/push/pull/grip/pinch. Shift and Pay includes shift: 2nd shift Monday - Friday 2:30 PM-11:00 PM, pay: $20.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential = $21/hour + potential monthly profit sharing bonus - potential monthly profit sharing for all shifts.
