- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts (commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, etc.)
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
- Understand customer operational goals, pain points, and facility needs
- Conduct regular account reviews and identify opportunities for improvement or expansion
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing and prospective accounts
- Develop and execute account growth strategies
- Generate proposals for DDC systems, upgrades, retrofits, and service agreements
- Collaborate with estimating and engineering teams to develop accurate project scopes and pricing
- Meet or exceed sales targets, revenue goals, and profitability objectives
- Work with engineers and project teams to design DDC/building automation solutions (HVAC controls, energy management systems, BMS integrations)
- Interpret plans, specifications, and sequences of operations
- Recommend system improvements, upgrades, and energy-efficient solutions
- Stay current on controls technologies
- Coordinate with project managers, field technicians, and subcontractors during project lifecycle
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, progress reviews, and closeout processes
- Ensure alignment between customer expectations and project deliverables
- Help resolve project issues, scope changes, and scheduling challenges
- Manage account profitability, including margins and cost controls
- Review and approve proposals, change orders, and service agreements
- Forecast revenue and maintain accurate sales pipeline reporting (CRM)
- Ensure timely billing and assist in collections when necessary
- Act as escalation point for service or performance issues
- Coordinate service teams for maintenance, troubleshooting, and system optimization
- Promote service contracts, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades
- Ensure systems are operating efficiently and meeting client expectations
- Ensure all solutions comply with industry standards, codes, and customer specifications
- Maintain accurate customer records, project documentation, and contracts
- Support commissioning and system handover documentation
- Work closely with:
- Engineering teams (for system design)
- Operations/project management (for execution)
- Service departments (for ongoing support)
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and customers
- Stay informed on trends in:
- Building automation systems (BAS)
- Energy efficiency and sustainability
- Smart building technologies (IoT integration, analytics)
- Identify competitive positioning and differentiate offerings
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and DDC controls
- Sales and negotiation expertise
- Technical aptitude for building automation systems
- Project coordination and organizational skills
- Customer relationship management (CRM tools)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Financial and business acumen
- Revenue growth & sales targets
- Account retention rate
- Gross margin/profitability
- Pipeline value and conversion rate
- Customer satisfaction (CSAT)
- Service contract growth
