Registered Nurse 1 – Correctional Nursing

Title: Registered Nurse 1 – Correctional Nursing

Requirements:

Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license and registration (required)
BLS certification
COVID-19 vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals.
Coordinate and clinically supervise Graduate Nurses, LPNs, and direct care staff.
Perform health assessments and develop/implement nursing care plans.
Provide case finding, health teaching, counseling, treatments, and nursing procedures.
Consult with treatment teams and participate in interdisciplinary health teams.

Compliance / Notes:

Criminal History Form clearance required before start (may take up to 4 weeks).
Valid state license required — no exceptions.
Submittal requirements include SSN and DOB; RTO must be presented at the time of submittal.
Accepts first-time travelers and local travelers at the same rate.
Returning staff must have been away from any state facility for at least 2 years.
