Van Driver

Transports students and staff to and from school or other activities in district vehicle by performing the following duties. Responsible for safety and conduct of passengers in accordance with State, District, and Department regulations. Responsible for all District safety procedures including assisting students and staff as they enter and exit the vehicle. Ensures van is in operating condition. Performs daily safety inspection of van; identifies and reports needed repairs and mechanical problems. Reports student misbehavior appropriately to parents and documents contact. Prepares disciplinary referrals as needed. Maintains current route sheets. Maintains clean van (interior and exterior). Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to pass ADOT drug screening. Must have AZ Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP# prior to hiring. Arizona Driver's License. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, supervisors, and other employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
