This team helps troubleshoot and resolve operational issues on transport category aircraft. This position will be responsible for Engineering support on various software driven aircraft systems and improving associated reliability and performance through project management.What you'll doEngineer L2KKeeps informed of day-to-day airline operations involving field of responsibilityAssesses daily priorities in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directivesInvestigates aircraft/component problems associated with aircraft software which may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations or interruptions in aicraft software data retrival, and determines appropriate corrective actionsProvides Engineering support as required for disposition of discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or components in order to restore serviceable statusResponds to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is required to support projects or resolve problemsDevelops action plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or component engineering projects and pursues final dispositions according to assessed prioritiesCoordinates with other airline departments, as required, to provide for effective and efficient implementation of engineering dispositionsPrepares Engineering documents to implement technical dispositions by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections or other maintenance actions which provide benefits in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directivesMaintains knowledge of current and pending regulations, which affect areas of responsibility and ensures that all Engineering actions maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirementsUtilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experienceMay work irregular hours and shift schedules; may travelEngineer L3Please see Engineer L2 essential job functions. This position additionally performs the following:Coordinates with manufacturers and regulatory authorities, as required, and ensures that Engineering dispositions are properly substantiated in accordance with applicable regulations and Company manualsDevelops customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing and other maintenance actions which are not adequately addressed in existing manualsStrives to improve communications skills, time management and other personal qualities pertinent to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned dutiesAll you'll need for successMinimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience​Bachelor's degree in Engineering required2 years of related experiencePreferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience​3-6 years experience as an engineer with aircraft systems or related experienceExperience authoring, revising, and creating Engineering Orders (EOs), Maintenance Evaluation Team (MET) Projects, and Engineering Authorizations (EAs)Knowledge of CFRs, maintenance programs, WDM, AMM, IPC, TSM and CMMKnowledge of aircraft software distribution/loading Skills, Licenses & Certifications​Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.Excellent analytical, technical writing, problem solving, communication, planning and organizational skillsAbility to work under pressureMust be self-motivated and disciplined in their work ethicsBasic computer programmingWhat you'll getFeel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
