Neurologist (Multi-Specialty Clinic)

Neurologist Physician

The Neurologist Physician must provide direct health care services to the population served by TUMG. In addition, the teaching of residents, medical students and other learners is considered an essential part of the job requirements for this physician. The physician may also be asked to participate on various committees such as those related to Graduate Medical Education (GME), St. Joseph's Medical Center, and other committees.

Provide Neurologic patient care services at St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) in Stockton, CA as required.

Provide outpatient Neurologic services at sites designated by TUMG.

Serve in the role of educator and preceptor to SJMC Residents and to Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine medical students.

Participate in formative and summative evaluations of learners.

May be requested to participate in SJMC GME Committees. Examples include the Clinical Competency Committee or the Program Evaluation Committee.

From time to time, may be requested to assist in didactic and clinical education programs as they relate to the specialty of Neurology.

Comply with grievance and due process procedures as set forth in the institutional requirements and implemented by the sponsoring institution.

From time to time, may be requested to assist in providing back-up medical care when clinic or hospital care responsibilities are impacted.

Be familiar with and comply with hospital bylaws, TUMG bylaws, and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ("ACGME") policies and procedures as they pertain to the practice of medicine and the education of learners.

Must dedicate an average of at least 36 to 40 hours per week to the practice of neurology, as defined by the terms of the employment contract.

Must participate in academic societies and in educational programs designed to enhance their skills.

Other duties as assigned.

Residents, Medical and other healthcare Students, Medical Assistants

Able to meet the requirements for an academic appointment and position with TUMG

Requisite specialty expertise and experience acceptable to the Review Committee

Current Board Certification in Neurology by the American Osteopathic Association or American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or be Board Eligible

Effective written and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to keep an open mind

A documented ability to provide an environment for education, research, and scholarly activity

Current California Medical Licensure

Current DEA Licensure with CA address

Qualify for appropriate medical staff appointment

Professionalism maintain professional conduct staying composed in a high-stress environment and when dealing with sensitive situations or information. Should be organized and prepared at all times.

Communication ability to clearly discuss conditions and treatments with patients in a way that they fully understand. Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with other medical technicians to aid in diagnosing, administering treatment, and evaluating patient outcomes accurately.

Knowledgeable must possess analytical skills, have attention to detail, and an extensive understanding of medicine and the field of internal medicine/infectious disease.

Self-motivation and Compassion must be able to treat patients and their families with compassion and understanding. Self-motivation and a genuine desire to help people is important.

Learning Continuation must stay up to date with the latest information in medicine as it relates to this specialty along with medical advances in the field.

Critical Thinking must use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Perceptiveness should have and continue to develop the skillset of gauging how people react and read their body language to decipher their feelings and predict their actions. Should be able to determine if someone could be a risk to themselves or others.

Judgement and Decision Making needs to be able to act autonomously and make difficult decisions that would benefit the patient and make corrections. Must consider all benefits and repercussions of potential actions and choose the appropriate one.
