Automation Technician

Automation Mechanical TechnicianThe Automation Mechanical Technician (AMT) will perform both basic and advanced tasks and repairs on automation systems and associated components. This role involves working with mechanical, electrical, and computer-controlled systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime in a high-tech manufacturing or industrial environment. In fulfilling this role, the AMT works closely with team department members, DSC maintenance, the robotics team, and operations to provide day-to-day support on the automation systems, including specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems, and provide technical support as needed.Schedule: C (Night) Shift Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm - 7:00amWeek starts at 11:00pm on Sunday night and ends on Friday morning at 7:00amThis position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and vendors.ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with safety standards and company policies and follow all EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations and guidelinesInstall, calibrate, and maintain automated machinery, robotics, and mechatronic systemsDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in automation equipmentPerform routine preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and longevityCollaborate with engineers, project and production teams to optimize system performanceRead and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems such as relay logic, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.Understands basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitryMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities and system modificationsPerform related tasks as required and maintain a clean, well-organized work environmentQualificationsMinimum Requirements:Must be at least eighteen (18) years of ageMust be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications: Have at least an Associate degree or certification in Automation TechnologyHave at least two (2) years of automation system or maintenance experienceHave formal training in or at least one (1) year of work experience implementing Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)Have at least one (1) year experience with robotics and motion control (i.e. FANUC, ABB)Have at least one (1) year experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systemsHave at least one (1) year experience using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instrumentsAbout UsAt Sherwin-Williams, our purpose is to inspire and improve the world by coloring and protecting what matters.
