This is a senior-level Healthcare Technology Management opportunity for a highly experienced biomedical professional who can function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and modality expert for sterilizer systems. The specialist will independently troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and support advanced clinical equipment across multiple healthcare facilities while ensuring equipment meets manufacturer and regulatory standards.Position OverviewThe Biomedical Equipment Specialist serves as a regional technical leader with advanced expertise in sterilizer systems and additional high-end healthcare technology. This position requires the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, make technical decisions, manage a complex clinical equipment inventory, and communicate effectively with healthcare facility leadership. The ideal candidate has significant hands-on experience maintaining and repairing hospital sterilization equipment, formal OEM training on Steris and/or Getinge equipment, and a minimum of seven years of healthcare technology repair experience.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as Subject Matter Expert and modality expert for sterilizer systemsTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain sterilizer systems to manufacturer standardsSupport sterilizers and advanced clinical equipment across multiple healthcare facilitiesIndependently diagnose electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment failuresPerform preventive maintenance on advanced clinical equipmentCalibrate, validate, and return equipment safely to clinical serviceEnsure sterilizer performance meets manufacturer and applicable regulatory standardsMaintain and manage advanced clinical equipment inventoriesDevelop maintenance strategies that support clinical and operational goalsCollaborate directly with healthcare facility leadershipMaintain accurate service documentation, records, and reportsCommunicate maintenance plans, equipment status, and service outcomesProvide technical expertise and guidance throughout the assigned regionShare specialized sterilizer knowledge with BMET personnel and other technical teamsMay provide dotted-line technical guidance to Biomedical Equipment TechniciansPlan and organize field-service activities across multiple healthcare facilitiesOperate independently with minimal supervisionSterilizer System ExpertiseCandidates must possess advanced hands-on technical expertise maintaining and repairing sterilizer systems. Candidates must demonstrate direct responsibility for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, calibrating, and supporting sterilizer systems to manufacturer standards. General BMET experience without substantial sterilizer expertise is not sufficient.OEM training is required: Formal OEM training on Steris and/or Getinge equipment is specifically required. Verify the manufacturer, training or certification completed, equipment covered, and candidate's subsequent hands-on experience servicing that manufacturer's sterilizer systems.Education note: A bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or Biomedical Engineering is listed; however, the employer specifically allows equivalent experience managing, maintaining, and repairing clinical equipment within a healthcare environment. Extensive directly relevant HTM experience may therefore satisfy the education requirement.Travel requirement: This is not a single-facility BMET position. The specialist will travel extensively throughout the Boston and New Hampshire region supporting multiple healthcare facilities. Candidates must be comfortable with a field-based position and significant regional travel.
