Requisition Number: R153099 APP ( NP/PA) - Specialty Practice - Neuro Critical Care -Day/ Eve/ Night (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare: Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Neurocritical Care team in Roanoke, Virginia. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary neuroscience and critical care program providing comprehensive care to critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients.

The APP will work alongside neurointensivists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, residents, pharmacists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists in a fast-paced academic and tertiary care environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations and management of critically ill neuroscience patients in the Neurocritical Care Unit.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Manage patients with conditions including:
  • Acute ischemic stroke
  • Intracerebral hemorrhage
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Status epilepticus
  • Post-operative neurosurgical conditions
• Interpret diagnostic studies including imaging, laboratory results, and hemodynamic data.
• Perform procedures within scope of practice and institutional privileges.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and care coordination.
• Document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients, families, nursing staff, and learners as appropriate.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Experience: 0

Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP), Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required or Physician Assistant. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

Other: Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
