Overview Music and Activities Specialist – Day Habilitation Program Location: Bethpage, NY, US Salary: $66,300.00 annually Responsibilities Provide a Music/Creative Arts program on a daily basis for individuals supported and coordinate special events/activities. Plan and organize monthly programs of varied group activities, including music and other creative art modalities. Lead the implementation of the program-wide Music Specialty program and lead music groups daily. Provide individual and/or small group music sessions as recommended. Ensure necessary, age-appropriate music, exercise, and leisure skills equipment and supplies are available within budgetary guidelines and maintained for health and safety. Coordinate monthly special events and/or other program activities utilizing community resources. Accompany individuals supported on cultural/recreational/volunteer community participation outings as needed. Complete and ensure accurate and timely completion of daily notes and all other required paperwork. Collaborate with Art Studio staff to discuss new creative arts programs and community activities; ensure follow-up and implementation of approved activities. Provide room coverage, bus-duty, and lunch coverage on a regularly scheduled basis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with one year experience preferred, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years’ experience, or High School Diploma with 5 years’ experience. Degree and experience should be in Music, Music Therapy, Psychology, Special Education, or Human Services. Formal training/educational background in music or creative arts required, or demonstrated talent in music/creative arts through work or volunteer experience. Experience working with individuals who are developmentally disabled preferred. Complete required trainings in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) and CPR certification.
