Psychiatry Opportunity At Centra Lynchburg General Hospital

Centra's Psychiatry and Behavioral Health provide vital and compassionate mental health services to our community through a variety of programs. We offer inpatient programs, which include an Acute Psychiatric Program for Children & Adolescents, an Adult Psychiatric Program, and a Geriatric Psychiatric Program. We also provide ambulatory services through Piedmont Psychiatric Center, Centra Pathways Treatment Center for those with substance-use disorders-related problems and Consult Liaison Services with two hospitals. In addition, we have our new Psychiatric Emergency Center (emPATH) which opened in October 2023 and has been incredibly successful. We have the first one in VA!

You Can Expect:

• Multidisciplinary, collegial team: psychiatrists, psychologists, NPs and counselors
• Robust, comprehensive behavioral health ambulatory services
• Vacation: 5.5 weeks ATO
• Call is 1:14 and is mostly tele call
• Overnight call is not for admissions; Nocturnist covers overnight admissions 7 days/week.
• Weekend rounding only when on call; Hospitalists cover the inpatient unit on weekdays.
• Inpatient admission call falls exclusively to Array (external agency)
• Cerner EMR

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training
• MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be board certified or board eligible.
