VICTIM ADVOCATE - CLERMONT COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE (Victim Advocate Program) DEPARTMENT: Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office 76 S. Riverside Drive, 2nd Floor 4432 State Route 222 SALARY: Minimum $45,011.20/ $21.64 hourly to $48,006.40/$23.08 hourly Negotiable based on experience & certification Special Requirements/Notes Type: Full-Time Permanent (Classified) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Probationary Period: 180 days Start Date: September 14th, 2026

JOB SUMMARY

Provides direct services through crisis intervention, criminal justice support and advocacy to crime victims in Clermont County Common Pleas, Municipal, and Juvenile Courts. Identifies and coordinates referrals and services Serves as a liaison with criminal justice professionals and community agency representatives, to address the rights of crime victims. Victim advocates are assigned to the Victim Assistance Division of the Prosecutor’s Office and are supervised by the program director and division chief. Duties and Responsibilities Provides support services to crime victims and assists with concerns resulting from victimization. Identifies and coordinates referrals and services. Provides information using a trauma-informed approach to crime victims related to the criminal event and/or criminal justice response, policies, and practices. Provides information related to legal terms and court processes. Understands, upholds, and assists in the education and implementation of victims’ rights per statutory and constitutional laws. Documents all case information via Matrix to maintain statistical records for VOCA/SVAA reporting. Serves as a liaison with advocacy groups, service providers, community outreach services, law enforcement personnel, and others. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Policies, practices, and procedures within the criminal justice system. Advocacy groups, service providers, and community outreach services. Microsoft Suite and other software Skilled in Verbal and written communication Problem solving and decision making Obtaining information from people served and other sources Navigating difficult situations with tact and professionalism as a representative of the prosecuting attorney’s office Determining types of referrals and services needed by crime victims Working in a criminal justice and/or legal setting Ability to Explain legal terms and court processes Work independently Manage time well and meet timelines Communicate effectively Establish and maintain effective working relationships with people served by the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, employees and officials of the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, representatives of outside agencies and providers, and the public Learn Matrix Pointe software, Axon, and other criminal justice software programs as required in all aspects of processing cases Maintain a high level of confidentiality Utilize organizational and time management skills to perform and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the office

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Technical degree, associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field, or comparable experience working in a criminal justice setting demonstrating the above skills is required. On-going training will be provided, including receiving and maintaining the status of Registered Advocate with the State of Ohio/OVWA is required.
