Job Posting: Residential Safety Associate Location: Newark, NY Department: Restart Residential Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours Schedule: Sun-Thurs OR Tues-Sat 12pm-8pm Salary: $19.25/hr. General Description Under general supervision, provides a safe, therapeutic environment for the residents through medication management, recreation and facility management in addition to other residential activities for clients. Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards as identified by the NYS OASAS and other relevant governing bodies. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitors residents to assure a safe therapeutic environment. Conducts personal and property searches per policy of all clients that are re-entering the facility from being outside the building (this includes activities outside the building even if staff were present for the activity). Monitors and conducts full search procedure which may include having client change into scrubs and searching clothing that was worn at the time of leaving building. Conducts room and personal belonging searches to ensure the safety of the environment and program participants. Makes hourly visual contact with residents and documents in client observation record. Assists in discharge planning to assure a safe transition whether planned and unplanned. Conducts personal and property searches per policy of all clients that are re-entering the facility from being outside the building. Consults Clinical Manager if there are any clinical concerns with the client. Debriefs relevant information to incoming employees during shift exchange; conducts visible rounds to ensure all residents are accounted for and environment is safe at beginning and end of each shift. Carries out emergency procedures to assure safety of residents and staff when required. Notifies Residence Manager of any emergency situations immediately. Completes and maintains all necessary documentation in compliance with the agency and appropriate regulatory standards. Completes incident reports, documenting any unusual incidents or situations as needed. Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings. Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops. Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse. Associates Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Credentials: Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License. Recovery peer advocate training preferred. Experience: Experience working with substance use disorder clients and/or mental health services preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
