Maintenance Technician - FULL TIME

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT : Maintenance SUPERVISED BY : Facilities Manager WORK LOCATION: Beacon Hill and Roxbury/Dorchester SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with on-call coverage Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year About Commonwealth Land Trust: A nonprofit since 1985, CLT owns and manages over 425 affordable housing units, offering on-site case management to support housing stability and community rebuilding. POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance across multiple residential properties. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while supporting a diverse resident population. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Apartment turnovers Plumbing maintenance and repair Electrical maintenance and repair HVAC maintenance and repair Appliance repair Hanging doors; replacing locks and keys Carpentry, drywall, and painting Flooring installation and repair Janitorial services, groundskeeping, and snow removal Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout all properties Responding to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner Participating in on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergencies REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS Journeyman plumber and/or journeyman electrician license strongly preferred High School Diploma or GED Minimum of three (3) years of directly related facilities maintenance experience Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Excellent customer service skills Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently Ability to diagnose and remedy maintenance issues efficiently Reliable vehicle required to perform essential job duties Ability to work comfortably with individuals of varying racial/ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, languages, and socio-economic statuses Comfort working with populations including, but not limited to: Chronically homeless individuals People living with HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C Individuals with substance use disorders Individuals living with mental illness Benefits: ~ Dental insurance ~401(k) ~ Employee discount ~ Flexible spending account ~ Health insurance ~ Life insurance ~ Paid time off ~ Retirement plan ~ Vision insurance People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Education: ~ High school or equivalent (Required) Experience: ~ maintenance: 1-3 years (Required) Ability to Commute: ~ Boston, MA 02120 (Preferred) Work Location: In person Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 1 - 3 years Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 Annual Bonus/Commission: Yes
