Administrative Analyst

Duties Summary Independently plans and conducts a variety of recreational activities in support of a planned recreation program; and/or assists higher level staff in implementing a planned recreational program; and performs other related duties as required. Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the filing date of their application, unless otherwise specified. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40‑hour work weeks. Part‑time experience must be pro‑rated. Training and Experience A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of experience in organizing, conducting, and/or instructing recreational or group activities. Note: A BA or BS degree in a Recreational program (Recreational Administration) or a BEd in Elementary or Secondary Education may be substituted for two (2) years of specialized work experience. A copy of your degree or transcripts must be submitted for verification. In addition, prior to completion of probation, possession of a valid: American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate or equivalent American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate, or certificate of completion of the American Heart Association Health Care Provider course or equivalent (Certificates must be maintained on a current basis thereafter.) License Requirement Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, as applicable to the position. Current position requires possession of a Type 3 license. Knowledge The principles, practices, and techniques of recreational activities The proper care and maintenance techniques of equipment and facilities Principles and practices of group leadership and instruction Public relations and safety practices and procedures Ability Instruct and conduct recreational activities Motivate and stimulate group participants Understand and follow oral and written instructions Maintain harmonious relationships with staff and the public Prepare and maintain records Health and Physical Condition Requirements Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards necessary and proper for performance of duties. Special Working Conditions Irregular hours, including shift, seasonal and holiday, and weekend work as required. Pre‑Employment Requirements Persons selected for employment are required to pass a pre‑employment physical at their own expense and a drug screening test. Benefits Pay Raises negotiated by the respective union for this position. Paid Vacation Time: Employees start accruing paid vacation time immediately upon hire! 14 hours are earned after a full month of service which means 21 days per year. Paid Sick Leave Time: Employees start accruing paid sick leave time immediately upon hire! 14 hours are earned after a full month of service which means 21 days per year. Paid Holidays: The County recognizes 13 holidays per year as well as General Election Day every other year. Retirement: Eligible to participate in the State sponsored defined benefits retirement plan (State of Hawaii Employees' Retirement System). Employees must contribute 8% of their pay to the retirement system, with certain exceptions. Health Insurance: County pays a portion of the premiums for employee enrollment in a State sponsored Medical, Drug, Vision, and Adult Dental Plan. Flexible Spending Accounts: Employees can increase their take‑home pay by having County deduct the cost of health care premiums, medical and dependent care expenses before payroll taxes are withheld. Group Life Insurance: County provides a free life insurance policy for active employees.
