Compliance and Safety Manager

Improveit Home Remodeling

Improveit Home Remodeling is growing—and we’re looking for a Compliance & Safety Manager to help us take our safety and compliance culture to the next level! This is an opportunity to make a real impact across a growing organization by leading initiatives that protect our people, strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and create safer, more consistent ways of working. You’ll partner with leaders and field teams, develop and strengthen safety programs, lead training and incident response, and help ensure we stay ahead of regulatory requirements. If you’re a hands‑on leader who thrives on solving problems, driving accountability, and turning safety and compliance into a true part of the culture—not just a checklist—we want to hear from you! Come grow with the Rhino team and help us build something great. Position Overview The Compliance and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the company operates in full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, licensing requirements, fleet/vehicle compliance, jobsite standards, safety training expectations, and internal company policies related to residential remodeling operations. The role reports to the Director of Operations and serves as the central point of accountability for regulatory adherence, licensing control, fleet compliance, fleet safety training, risk mitigation, audit readiness, and documentation discipline across production, service, sales, and support functions. What You’ll Do Regulatory & Licensing Compliance Oversee contractor licensing, business registrations, required filings, certifications, and permit‑related compliance across operating markets. Monitor regulatory changes and translate requirements into practical operating standards. Support compliance readiness for new markets, branch rollouts, product expansion, inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries. Serve as a point of contact for licensing boards, regulatory inquiries, inspections, and compliance‑related escalations. Fleet Operations & Compliance Own company fleet operations, including fleet standards, compliance expectations, operating controls, reporting discipline, and cross‑functional accountability. Maintain oversight of fleet‑related compliance records, driver eligibility documentation, insurance, registrations, and policy acknowledgments. Coordinate follow‑up on documentation gaps, incidents, or policy concerns in partnership with Operations, HR, Finance, and branch leaders. Safety Program Leadership & Training Lead company safety programs for field, warehouse, production, service, and support teams. Develop and manage safety training covering OSHA‑related awareness, lead‑safe practices, PPE, ladder and fall prevention, tool and equipment safety, warehouse safety, incident reporting, and jobsite standards. Ensure onboarding, recurring, and refresher training is completed and documented. Lead incident and near‑miss follow‑up, including root‑cause review, corrective action, retraining, and prevention planning. Policy Development & Accountability Develop and maintain compliance policies, safety policies, operational SOPs, checklists, training requirements, and control documents. Build and standardize Operations SOPs that define process ownership, required documentation, handoffs, escalation paths, compliance checkpoints, and field execution standards. Ensure consistent enforcement of operating standards related to licensing, permitting, job documentation, installer compliance, safety practices, training, incident reporting, and branch execution. Coordinate policy rollouts, leadership communication, employee acknowledgments, and corrective action documentation. Audit & Risk Management Conduct recurring audits of branches, jobsites, job files, permits, licenses, installer credentials, training records, incident records, fleet compliance, and regulatory controls. Identify trends, elevate risk, assign corrective actions, and report progress to Operations and senior leadership. Support market rollouts by auditing readiness, validating required controls, identifying gaps, and partnering with leaders to close issues before launch. Maintain audit logs, incident records, corrective action plans, training records, market rollout documentation, and compliance records for internal and external review. Jobsite & Operational Compliance Partner with Production, Installation, Quality, Warehouse, Service, Fleet, and branch leaders to align field execution with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Validate jobsite practices, including lead‑safe procedures, PPE use, ladder and fall prevention, cleanup standards, documentation, and completion controls. Coach leaders on safety expectations, compliance discipline, training completion, and consistent branch execution. Training & Communication Deliver clear compliance and safety training for managers, installers, service teams, warehouse teams, drivers, and support staff. Track required certifications, training completion, acknowledgments, and refreshers across markets. Translate regulatory, safety licensing, fleet, Operations SOP, market rollout, and audit requirements into practical expectations for field and office teams. Key Performance Indicators Licenses, registrations, certifications, and required filings maintained on time and in good standing across all operating markets. Safety training completion, employee acknowledgments, and required refreshers completed within established timelines. Reduction in preventable safety incidents, near‑miss repeat issues, documentation gaps, and recurring audit findings. Corrective actions closed on time with documented root cause, owner, due date, and verification of completion. Operations SOPs developed, maintained, trained, and adopted consistently across markets and branch teams. Market rollouts supported with completed readiness audits, documented gap closure, training completion, and launch compliance validation. Fleet compliance records, driver eligibility standards, vehicle documentation, and policy controls maintained current and audit ready. Timely executive reporting on compliance status, safety trends, fleet operations, audit results, and risk mitigation priorities. Core Qualifications: Required 5+ years of experience in construction, home remodeling, compliance, safety, training, quality, operations, or a related field. Working knowledge of contractor licensing, permitting, jobsite documentation, safety training, OSHA‑related expectations, incident reporting, and corrective action management. Experience developing policies, building SOPs, supporting market rollouts, conducting audits, maintaining records, delivering training, and driving accountability across teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple markets, deadlines, records, renewals, compliance calendars, and documentation systems. Executive‑level communication skills with the ability to influence field teams, managers, and senior leaders. Preferred Experience in a multi‑branch home improvement or residential construction environment. Familiarity with EPA RRP / lead‑safe work practices, OSHA standards, jobsite safety programs, consumer protection requirements, incident management, driver eligibility standards, and state licensing boards.
