Job Details Job Location: Oak Grove Head Start - Oklahoma City, OK 73108 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $18.79 Job Purpose The Daycare Teacher Assistant at the COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY OF OKLAHOMA will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This role is essential in assisting with the implementation of daily activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Key Responsibilities Assist the lead teacher in planning and executing educational activities and curriculum designed to promote physical, social, and intellectual growth. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and engagement. Support the lead teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment. Help prepare materials and resources needed for daily activities and special projects. Monitor and document children's progress and behavior, reporting observations to the lead teacher. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on children's activities and progress. Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks and meals, adhering to dietary guidelines and health standards. Respond to children's needs promptly and with sensitivity, fostering a supportive and caring atmosphere. QualificationsRequired Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred. Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting. Experience in assisting lead teachers with classroom management and lesson planning is preferred. Familiarity with child development principles and practices. Required Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to support the educational and developmental needs of children. Demonstrated patience, creativity, and a nurturing attitude towards children. Capability to maintain a safe and engaging learning environment. Basic understanding of first aid and CPR is advantageous.
