Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location

Nyack, NY | Acute Care – Emergency Department (Level III Trauma Center, STEMI Receiving, Stroke Center)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (Mids) | Onsite | Weekend and Holiday availability required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency department averaging 145–150 patients per day across 44 beds, 3 trauma bays, and 12 psychiatric beds
• Manage patient assignments at a ratio of 1:8–10, including both ER and hold patients within a shared environment
• Perform triage independently in a dedicated triage area if prior triage experience is demonstrated
• Draw and process labs in coordination with PCAs; independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips without monitor tech support
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment (ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow); Respiratory Therapy manages setup and vent changes
• Utilize EPIC electronic health records for all documentation and patient management

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN License required
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be current
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Pediatric (PEDS) experience required
• Comfortable with patient ratios of 1:8–10

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification preferred
• Prior triage experience in a busy emergency department setting
• Experience in a Level III Trauma, STEMI-receiving, or Stroke Center environment
