Job Title: Scheduling Specialist III – Gastroenterology Division: Medicine Work Arrangement: Onsite only Location: Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX Salary Range: $47,372 to $55,731 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Summary The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is seeking an enthusiastic procedure scheduler to coordinate gastrointestinal outpatient procedures. Responsibilities include patient education, scheduling procedures in BCM and BSLMC EPIC systems, and collaborating with physicians and the care coordination team. The role operates in a high‑volume service line requiring management of scheduling and patient registration across separate EPIC systems. Job Duties Schedule GI procedures in BCM and BSLMC EPIC, ensuring every referred patient receives an appointment date. Contact patients for pre‑procedure instructions and notify them of date, time, and arrival details. Request additional information from referring physicians. Verify insurance for new and established patients. Collaborate with the general GI care coordination team to fill endoscopy blocks. Work the order queue to select orders and schedule patients. Coordinate with MDs for patient special instructions, procedure locations, and prior clearances. Perform cross‑checks for procedural or scheduling conflicts to ensure exam accuracy. Acquire clinical notes as needed before the exam. Maintain confidentiality of passwords/codes for all information systems and patient data. Verify and confirm patient identification and precautions across all documentation. Communicate appropriately as outlined in the patient care manual. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Scheduling experience in a high‑volume clinical environment.
