Job Summary The Guest Service Captain orchestrates the service experience for hotel guests while working alongside coworkers to ensure that the site’s service standards are met or exceeded. Under the direction of the Account Manager, the Captain has additional duties involving coordination, administration, troubleshooting, and guidance when the manager is absent. Job Details Valet Shift Lead – SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital Starting pay: $13–$15 per hour plus cash tips daily Health benefits offered to all employees Many shifts available Compensation Hourly base pay: $13–$15 per hour plus $3–$7 per hour in tips. Essential Functions Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor; greet guests within 30 seconds of arrival; deliver aggressive hospitality. (20%) Open vehicle and hotel doors, check in guests, explain parking and retrieval procedures; park and retrieve vehicles carefully; handle complaints and difficult situations. (20%) Use proper phone etiquette; conduct effective room presentation; assist with deliveries, directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries. (10%) Promote teamwork; lead the work group; assign routine roles as directed by the Account Manager; adjust staffing levels as needed. (15%) Issue claim checks, collect returns, complete ticket information, and secure keys. (15%) Ensure safe wheelchair operation and cleanliness; protect guest confidentiality per HIPAA; secure financial and identifying information. (10%) Assist the Account Manager with schedules, revenue collection, cash drops, shift reports, and reconciliation. (10%) Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED. Licensure and Certification Minimum 18 years of age; pass criminal background, MVR, and drug screen. Complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park. Work Experience Six months of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Skills Drive manual transmission. Speak, read, and write Standard English. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Apply reasoning and understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions. Mathematical skills: add/subtract three‑digit numbers; multiply/divide with 10s and 100s; understand 24‑hour and military time; understand rates applicable to time passed. Scope and Authority Job involves following established practices and procedures; decisions made within operational instructions; errors in judgment could affect department efficiency. Physical Demands Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently sit or stand for extended periods; may run, walk, handle objects, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific visual requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception; adjust focus. May exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, or 20 pounds constantly. Working Environment Majority of work outdoors for extended periods; subject to environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold. Protection from weather may be provided but not guaranteed.
