Job Description
Job Description
Seeking Behavioral Health Clinician for the Community Assessment Program at the JAC
The Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is a well-established nonprofit organization contributing to the safety of youth, families, and the communities of Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties through early intervention, comprehensive assessment and improved access to appropriate services. The JAC’s Community Assessment Program (CAP) is a clinical prevention program which provides free biopsychosocial assessments to youth and families through referrals from community partners. Our clinicians seek to build a sustainable community and family connections. The assessment process is intended to be an intervention for school-aged youth exhibiting concerning behavior at any measure. Behavioral Health Clinicians work with multiple partners to identify root causes of behavior and serve, in collaboration with professionals, as a guide to connect families to effective community-based services. We believe prevention is possible at any level for clients.
As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will complete bio psychosocial assessments to identify any areas of strength or needs within the family, and provide psychoeducation about resources and recommendations. In conjunction with the assessment, there are multiple mental health, substance use, and trauma screenings to help inform your recommendation of supportive services or resources to address identified concerns. You will prepare a report summary of the information gathered, screening tool results, and recommendations for the referring professional. Referrals come from partnering agencies such as schools, courts, child welfare, crisis teams, the judicial system, parent self-referral, etc. Behavioral Health Clinicians assist in coordination of care for youth involved in the juvenile justice and/or human service systems, as well as community/prevention interventions and school systems. Our assessment process is a comprehensive brief intervention with required background knowledge for psychoeducation and validation.
The intention of our assessment is to provide a safe space for youth and families to share their experiences, concerns, and hopes for what they want to change in their lives. As a neutral entity, our recommendations are not dictated by one service provider or funding source. We bring in knowledge about many different community agencies that can be beneficial. In addition to conducting early intervention assessments, you will provide professionals and families with information regarding behavioral health issues and resources available in their community. Clinicians are available for consult and navigation for families and professionals. We work in collaboration with professionals to develop strategies and meet the needs of students and families in their environment. As a clinician, you will represent the JAC at resource fairs, parent coffees, parent/teacher conferences, community meetings, fundraisers, family meetings, and other identified community events. These events may be outside of regular business hours. We prioritize building and maintaining partnerships with service providers and referring partners to better serve our clients with knowledge and collaboration, preventing over use of systems, a higher level of care, or system fatigue for families.
We are a flexible, dynamic, and well-versed team with a strong emphasis on self-care for ourselves and each other. This position requires you to be a reliable teammate, with open communication and support for each other. As mental health professionals, we value Belonging, Excellence, Collaboration, and Service within our agencies and communities.
