MGB Controlled Substance Auditor Certified Pharmacy TechnicianThe MGB Controlled Substance Auditor Certified Pharmacy Technician supports the diversion prevention and controlled substance compliance programs across one or more MGB locations through detailed operational auditing, data analysis, and reconciliation activities. This role is responsible for monitoring controlled substance transactions across multiple systems, identifying discrepancies, variances, and unusual patterns, and maintaining accurate audit documentation and records in alignment with regulatory requirements. The technician serves as a critical partner in surveillance and investigation processes by compiling data, preparing case summaries, and escalating potential risks to the pharmacist for clinical review and decision-making. Through disciplined monitoring, thorough documentation, and reliable reporting, this role strengthens oversight, supports regulatory compliance, and contributes to a high-reliability approach to controlled substance stewardship and risk detection.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or Equivalent requiredLicenses and Credentials: Pharmacy Technician [State License] requiredPharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) requiredExperience: Pharmacy technician 0-1 year requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions, including department policies and proceduresUnderstand HIPAA privacy rules and will use discretion handling patient related informationAbility to adhere to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous and hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirementsProficient with math calculations associated with assigned responsibilitiesAbility to distinguish routine functions from those requiring a pharmacist's professional judgmentAbility to work with sustained attention and care on routine, repetitive tasksKnowledge and ability to handle controlled substances in accordance with state regulationsMulti task and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
