MPT Broadcast Designer/ Animator

Location Maryland Public Television 11767 Owings Mills Blvd Owings Mills MD 21117 About MPT MPT is a public television network broadcasting throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of PBS and produces local and national programs and digital content. Main Purpose The Broadcast Designer/Animator supports MPT’s production and marketing goals by creating high‑quality graphics for broadcast and interactive applications. The position works closely with the Managing Director and the Art Designer of Creative Services to apply editorial and design direction that advances the agency’s communications efforts. Responsibilities Design and produce high‑quality graphics for broadcast video, online applications, and social media platforms that meet MPT and PBS technical and style requirements. Develop branding elements, including logos, type layouts, motion graphics and animations for program opens, style packages, program day parts, and promotional content. Create print media such as logos, signage, packaging, presentations, sales decks, marketing brochures, posters, and postcards in accordance with brand guidelines. Maintain project files for easy future access and perform routine hardware maintenance. Ensure all software is updated regularly and recommend equipment or software upgrades as needed. Keep current on developments in typography and motion graphics and use the latest techniques. Maintain accurate time sheets and in‑kind billing records for each project and submit all required records and reports on time for proper billing and cost accounting. Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of experience in broadcast design and animation, including 2‑D animation, graphics compositing, print media design, and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Knowledge of Maya, 3DS MAX, or Cinema 4D for 3‑D animation is an advantage. Education may substitute up to three years of experience on a year‑by‑year basis, provided the degree is from an accredited college or university in a related field. License Requirement Employees in this classification may be required to operate a motor vehicle. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland is required.
