Join a collaborative 32-bed surgical oncology and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Greenville, North Carolina, as an Oncology Travel RN caring for patients with complex cancer and surgical diagnoses. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 RN to 4 patients

• Float Expectation: May float to areas of equal or lesser acuity

Oncology Travel RN Job Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license or compact nursing license applicable to North Carolina
• At least 1 year of acute-care RN experience; oncology, surgical oncology, PCU, or progressive-care experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Recent experience with EPIC electronic medical records
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, six weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling period, and three of four holidays as required
• Must meet the applicable 80-mile local radius requirement

Surgical Oncology and PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to oncology and surgical patients in an intermediate-care and general-care environment.
• Care for patients undergoing surgical treatment for cancers and conditions involving ear, nose and throat; colorectal; OB/GYN; urology; gastrointestinal; genitourinary; and thoracic specialties.
• Support patients under plastic surgery management and care for a broad range of surgical oncology diagnoses, excluding brain and lung cancer cases.
• Perform focused assessments, monitor for changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly.
• Interpret cardiac rhythm strips and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
• Administer medications and treatments, manage postoperative care, and reinforce patient and family education.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized treatment plans.
• Float to units of equal or lesser acuity while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care.
