Job TitleDUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIESSoftware / CAD (40%)Expertly manage multiple design projects simultaneously using CAD software to produce plumbing and mechanical designs based on client and company specificationsConsistently create pre-fab drawings and state, permit, and construction documents according to set timelines and expectationsProject Design (30%)Accurately evaluate engineer drawings to identify opportunities to create a more efficient, cost-effective, code compliant designPrecisely calculate detailed heat loads, ductwork sizes, piping, and plumbing sizes for each designComprehensively create material lists of all necessary materials for each designMethodically generate fixture and equipment schedules to ensure each project is completed on deadlineConsistently model plumbing & ductwork per code and RTM standard practicesInformation Gathering (15%)Carefully review and understand structural documents associated with each design and correctly interpret plumbing and HVAC code requirements to ensure designs are code compliantThoroughly understand submittal packages and utilize in design decisionsAttend and hold meetings as necessary to understand scope of projectCommunication (15%)Clearly communicate with other trades, architects, general contractors, field engineers, project managers, field staff, and relevant internal departments such as estimating, to ensure applicable information is captured and all individuals are kept abreast of project progressDiligently gather and apply multiple perspectives on design options and ask appropriate questions of each party to determine scope of project workCorrectly use project management software to coordinate with internal teamPOSITION COMPETENCIESTask-Focused Communicator – Communication with others is dedicated to work knowledge and providing or gathering specific information to othersAccurate – Performs all duties with precision and skilled expertise to ensure high qualityTask Oriented – Confidently completes all tasks successively, correctly, and following known prioritiesConsistent – Patiently takes the time to do work steadily and with high accuracyDetailed Expert – Skillfully works within well-defined parameters with repeatable, successful resultsCRITICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGEClear, effective communications skills – both written and verbalGood ability to collaborate and incorporate multiple perspectives into work productAptitude for prioritizing and problem-solvingPreference for accuracy, attention to detail, and organizationMastery of entire Microsoft Suite plus Internet and emailExperienced in AutoCAD and RevitAbility to utilize Revit, Navisworks, Design Review and Bluebeam softwareA high school diploma or GED is required, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred4 years CAD design software experienceBasic construction knowledge requiredWORKING CONDITIONSWell-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office settingModerately noisy environment with light traffic, office equipment, and guest entranceSedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative natureMust be capable of lifting up to 10 poundsNo overnight travel required; some local travel requiredThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only activities to be performed by the associate occupying this position.
