The Director of Facilities, Safety & Security is responsible for leading all facility operations, safety initiatives, security programs, risk management efforts, and regulatory compliance activities across the organization’s school campuses, youth programs, and child-serving environments. This role develops and promotes a culture of safety while ensuring the maintenance, security, and operational effectiveness of all facilities, vehicles, equipment, and physical assets used by students, staff, and program participants.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Director oversees facility management, vendor relations, OSHA compliance, emergency preparedness, fleet operations, security personnel, safety training, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of staff, youth, students, families, visitors, and stakeholders across all educational and youth-focused sites.

• Develop and foster a culture of safety throughout all organizational departments, school campuses, youth programs, and child-serving environments.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety plans, emergency response procedures, and risk mitigation strategies tailored to school and youth settings.
• Lead organizational safety initiatives to ensure the physical and emotional safety of employees, clients, students, and visitors.
• Conduct facility assessments, security audits, emergency drills, and monthly safety inspections with actionable recommendations.
• Manage enterprise risk assessment programs and identify opportunities to reduce organizational exposure.
• Oversee security personnel and establish protocols that ensure facility protection and youth safety.
• Conduct camera surveillance audits and security system evaluations.
• Develop partnerships with local police departments, fire departments, emergency responders, and safety vendors.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, child safety standards, school safety requirements, fire codes, health regulations, and organizational policies.

• Direct all maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction activities across school buildings, youth program sites, and administrative facilities.
• Establish and oversee preventative maintenance schedules for buildings, grounds, equipment, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and infrastructure.
• Partner with Information Technology teams to coordinate technology upgrades, network infrastructure improvements, and equipment replacement schedules.
• Research, evaluate, and assist in selecting contractors, architects, vendors, and service providers for facility projects.
• Monitor building permits, fire inspections, health inspections, and regulatory requirements to maintain compliance.
• Maintain operational readiness of all facilities and physical assets used by students and youth program participants.
• Analyze facility needs and recommend capital improvements, repairs, and replacement projects.

• Oversee organizational vehicle fleet safety, maintenance schedules, inspections, and driver readiness programs.
• Ensure safe transportation operations and compliance with all vehicle safety requirements for student and youth transport.
• Administer organizational key control and access management programs.
• Maintain master access to facilities and vehicles while ensuring secure issuance, tracking, and return procedures.
• Manage facility inventory systems, security systems, and asset tracking programs.

• Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and service agreement renewals.
• Monitor vendor performance and ensure quality service delivery.
• Drive fiscal responsibility through cost analysis, budget management, and expense control initiatives.
• Prepare and administer departmental budgets and capital expenditure plans.
• Analyze operational costs and recommend efficiencies to support organizational goals.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, expenditures, and compliance efforts.

• Supervise facilities, maintenance, security, custodial, transportation, and support personnel.
• Conduct employee coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.

• Promote accountability, productivity, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout all departments.

• Maintain, update, and coordinate organizational safety policies, procedures, and employee handbook provisions related to safety and facilities operations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including those specific to school and youth program environments.
• Prepare reports, safety metrics, balanced scorecards, compliance documentation, and operational summaries for executive leadership.
• Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions that support organizational objectives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by executive leadership.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Emergency Management, or a related field.

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in safety, facilities management, security, construction management, operations, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience leading teams and managing organizational resources.
• Experience within educational, youth development, nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or community-based organizations strongly preferred.

• OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Risk management and emergency preparedness planning for school and youth environments.
• Building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and construction practices.
• Security operations, surveillance systems, and access control management.
• Vendor contract negotiation and procurement processes.
• Budget development and financial management.
• Fleet management and transportation safety.
• Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, database systems, and facility management software.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including educators, youth program staff, families, and community partners.

• Ability to obtain required criminal background, child abuse, FBI, and sex offender clearances.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to meet organizational health clearance requirements.
