Traveling Safety Specialist (Mission Critical)

Shimmick's scope includes construction of critical electrical infrastructure supporting the project, including underground electrical duct banks, grounding and bonding systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, power cabling, electrical equipment installation, testing, and commissioning. Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:Under general supervision, performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with SH&E standards along with state and federal retulatory requirements.Leverages degree and/or prior experience to advise on a variety of SH&E topics.Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.Assists in monitoring for hazards that could be present in the work area.Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.Participates in recommending improvement in processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards.Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. Qualifications Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Must be able to maintain 3 points of contact when climbing a ladder.Must have a valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Engineering3+ years of relevant experience in heavy civil, industrial, or large infrastructure construction.OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety TrainingCurrent First Aid/CPR CertificationStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with safety management software.Additional Information:This is a traveling position initially based in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.This position does not include sponsorship for a United States work authorization.The salary range for this position is between $92,000.00 to $129,000.00 per year depending on experience and/or education, which includes a 22% per year uplift in base salary during the initial travel assignment in West Virginia. Additional incentives include a $3,300 per month living allowance, if eligible, and a 10% project completion bonus.Shimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA.
