Education & Experience Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program 0+ years of experience Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program 0+ years of experience Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications American Heart Association BLS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) – American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) – Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Or registry eligible and attain certification within one year of hire Job Description The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer I position works under supervision to complete and assist with a variety of diagnostic echocardiography procedures. The role delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to echocardiography exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies, ensuring optimal patient safety and customer service. Essential Job Functions Acquire, record, analyze, present, and charge patient examinations, including transthoracic and stress procedures. If assigned to inpatient services, possess knowledge of and assist physicians with transesophageal procedures while maintaining proper sterile techniques. Employ basic computer skills and operate multiple computer systems, including Hospital/ Cardiology Information Systems and office software. Proactively respond to patient needs and use critical thinking to observe and address patient reactions (e.g., contrast media, medications) or potential outcomes. Comply with job role, department, and hospital safety standards, policies, and targets/initiatives for quality and safety. Report near misses and input errors promptly into the hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Maintain and care for echocardiography equipment, using resources efficiently and avoiding waste of supplies.
