Trauma Registrar

Manage and maintain database abstraction of clinical data from multiple sources as required by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) and Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Division Abstract and submit all required data elements into the Collector system as required by PTSF Communicate information to the Trauma Team regarding trauma audit filters or identified care issues Identify all trauma patients admitted to LVH and encountered by the trauma service and flag them in the EPIC system Compile data following NTDS and NTRACS data requirement guidelines Complete abstracts of all data from admission to discharge on assigned charts Collect patient records before and after discharge for review, analysis, and entry of diagnoses into the trauma registry database Requirements High School Diploma/GED 1 year experience in a health care-related field, or 1 year abstracting clinical information into a database, or 1 year billing or coding certificate or degree, in progress or complete Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology Proficient in Windows computers and data entry Proficient in EPIC Preferred: Knowledge of Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) Preferred: Experience with ICD-10 Coding Preferred: Experience in abstracting, billing and/or coding Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in abstracting clinical data and managing trauma registry databases, with proficiency in EPIC and adherence to PTSF guidelines. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding practices is essential for effective data management and communication within the trauma team.
