This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of jigs, fixtures, and tooling used on the production floor. The engineer will work closely with Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, and Tooling teams to ensure tooling solutions are robust, ergonomic, cost-effective, and aligned with Airbus quality and safety standards. Proficiency in CATIA is essential.Responsibilities:Tooling & Jig DesignDesign and develop production jigs, fixtures, and tooling using CATIA in accordance with design standardsTranslate product design requirements into manufacturable and reliable tooling solutionsCreate 3D models, 2D drawings, and complete technical documentation for tooling releaseEnsure tooling designs support dimensional accuracy, repeatability, and production rate objectivesManufacturing SupportProvide hands-on engineering support to the manufacturing floor during tooling installation, tryouts, and ramp-upTroubleshoot tooling-related issues affecting safety, quality, delivery, or costImplement tooling modifications and improvements based on production feedback and performance dataSupport measurement systems and tooling alignment to ensure product conformityContinuous ImprovementAnalyze tooling performance and identify opportunities to improve ergonomics, cycle time, reliability, and maintainabilityParticipate in Lean / continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, problem-solving workshops, root cause analysis)Support standardization and reuse of tooling solutions where applicableCross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teamsInterface with suppliers and internal tool shops for tooling fabrication, validation, and acceptanceSupport tooling procurement activities including specifications, supplier technical reviews, and acceptance testingCompliance & DocumentationEnsure tooling designs comply with processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirementsMaintain accurate configuration control, BOMs, and engineering change documentationSupport audits, reviews, and continuous compliance with safety and quality standardsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field3+ years of experience in tooling, jig, or fixture design within a manufacturing environmentStrong proficiency in CATIA (V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE)Experience supporting production or shop floor environmentsSolid understanding of GD&T, mechanical design principles, and manufacturing processesPreferred Qualifications:Aerospace manufacturing experienceKnowledge of composite or metallic aircraft structuresExperience with tooling validation, measurement systems, and first article inspections (FAI)Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologiesKey Competencies:Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentClear communication and collaboration across disciplinesAttention to detail with a quality-focused mindsetAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and manage engineering changesThe actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.Please beware of job seeker scams and see this important notice on our careers page for more information about our recruiting process.Compliance Notice: Alten USA is a federal contractor subject to the requirements of the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Executive Order 11246.
