Job Description

This role focuses on machining both large and small parts to precise specifications using a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and vacuum fixtures. You set up, adjust, and operate basic and advanced machine tools to perform high-precision machining operations, using precision instruments such as micrometers to verify accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

• Machine large and small parts to exact specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and vacuum fixtures.
• Set up, adjust, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines to perform precision machining operations.
• Operate and configure specialized and advanced machine tools to meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy.
• Perform machine setups, including selecting tools, loading fixtures, and preparing equipment for production runs.
• Edit CNC programs as needed to optimize machining processes and achieve required part specifications.
• Bore high precision holes and complete other complex machining tasks in line with aerospace requirements.
• Read, understand, and follow detailed step-by-step procedures and work instructions.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines during machining operations.
• Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement of machining processes.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Experience working with CNC equipment such as Mazak, gantry-style machines, and Makino machines.
• Proficiency in setting up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading.
• At least 2 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Experience editing CNC programs to adjust machining parameters and improve results.
• Demonstrated ability to bore high precision holes and work to tight tolerances.
• Strong ability to read, understand, and follow detailed step-by-step procedures.
• Skill in using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers to verify part dimensions.
• Solid understanding of precision machining operations and machine tool capabilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace machining or related high-precision manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with vacuum fixtures and advanced workholding methods.
• Experience with a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to refine setups and programs to improve performance.

Work Environment

The role is based in a production machining environment focused on aerospace components and high-precision work. Available shifts include Monday–Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (1st shift), Monday–Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (2nd shift), and a weekend shift Friday–Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some overtime may be required depending on production needs. You work with CNC machines, including 3-axis and 5-axis equipment, Mazak, gantry, and Makino machines, as well as traditional machine tools and vacuum fixtures in a shop environment that emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $52000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Wichita,KS.
