Operations Supervisor - Fleet Maintenance

Summary The Operations Supervisor assists the Operations Manager(s) and manages the operations and personnel for a shift at a specific location. The Operations Supervisor may supervise Technicians‑in‑Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. The Supervisor must accomplish results, meet business objectives and labor requirements, ensure customers’ needs are met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety, and asset targets, and manage location performance against metrics. The role is cross‑functionally trained so the Supervisor can back up shop staff, adheres to Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures, and may prepare for an Operations Manager position. Location Denver, CO Work Schedule Tuesday – Saturday Hours 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm Salary Salary determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills, education, and experience. Position may also receive an annual bonus incentive. Essential Functions Workflow Management: Responsible for work analysis, planning and scheduling, assigning work to technicians, productivity tracking, optimization, shift and shop meetings, RO review and approval; ensures all warranty policies and procedures are executed; triages unscheduled customer drive‑ins, communicates with customers, assigns work as appropriate; conducts yard checks to ensure proper scheduling and prioritization. Labor Management: Provides management, training and development of all personnel assigned; responsible for performance management of all assigned personnel. Customer Management: Manages customer relationships, issue resolutions, customer satisfaction and retention, vehicle uptime; handles customer communication protocol for PM scheduling & follow‑up, breakdowns and vehicle status updates; conducts customer visits as required by the Customer Care Plan. Asset Management: Directs direct reports in maintaining the appearance and maintenance of the location, sustaining 65 standards in all relevant shop areas; evaluates needs and recommends shop tooling and equipment; assists in managing and overseeing vehicle specifications and in‑service/out‑service processes; ensures all vehicles have required specifications in SAM; manages parts inventory, policies and procedures. Quality Management: Conducts quality inspections of PM & repairs, performs in‑process reviews of non‑PM work, performs breakdown root‑cause analysis, implements corrective actions locally, communicates issues to Technical Assistance Center; ensures cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehicles; works with Service Manager to ensure technicians are properly trained and qualified, prioritizes TOPS plan based on breakdown, rework and running‑cost trends; maintains control/visibility over shop floor activities; assists in developing and implementing Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs; ensures maintenance of all documentation required to meet local, state, federal and customer requirements; ensures compliance with Safety and EPA regulations. Financial Management: Ensures shift/shop delivers against Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives without sacrificing quality, safety or customer satisfaction; controls costs related to maintenance operations budget and location P&L; executes maintenance initiatives to meet financial targets; manages payroll, purchase order approval and invoice reconciliation; reconciles fuel; manages customer bill‑back process, identifies and approves bill‑back opportunities; ensures documentation and reporting of re‑billable activity; maintains data integrity in the Shop Management Online system. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Ability to professionally represent Ryder and competently interact with customer management. Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred). Microsoft Office intermediate proficiency (preferred). Qualifications H.S. diploma/GED required. Associate’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years or more experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute the requirement. Bachelor’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years or more experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute the requirement. Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with a Shop Management System preferred. Microsoft Office intermediate proficiency preferred.
