Shop Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations across two manufacturing departments. This role leads production teams, coordinates schedules and workflow, and manages resources to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality precision components.

The Shop Supervisor monitors equipment performance, coordinates maintenance, and works closely with operations, engineering, quality, and human resources to meet production, quality, and delivery goals.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Supervise machine operators, inspectors, and other production personnel.
• Assign work and monitor performance to meet quality, efficiency, and production targets.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and training to support employee development.
• Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns.
• Respond to employee questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
• Partner with human resources to resolve personnel matters.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment through proper use of personal protective equipment, tools, and machinery.

Production and Equipment Oversight

• Plan and coordinate production schedules, machine assignments, staffing, and workflow.
• Adjust production plans to accommodate changing priorities and operational issues.
• Identify process improvements that increase productivity, reduce downtime, and improve resource utilization.
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare shift production summaries and maintain accurate performance records.
• Analyze production data and communicate results, challenges, and improvement opportunities to leadership.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

• Enforce safety, quality, sanitation, and operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, AS9100, ISO 9001, aerospace machining standards, and applicable plant safety requirements.
• Inspect materials, components, finished products, and equipment for compliance with specifications.
• Monitor production processes, gauges, indicators, and performance metrics to identify and resolve quality or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement, safety awareness, and operational excellence.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 5 years of CNC machining experience focused on lathe and/or mill operations.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Aerospace machining experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Mastercam, Mazatrol, or Okuma OSP programming.
• Proficiency in G-code, tooling setup, offset adjustments, and machining strategies for high-precision components.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and inspection methods.
• Experience with AS9100 and familiarity with quality management system requirements.

Technical and Leadership Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize, delegate, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and sound independent judgment.
• Ability to take ownership of decisions and consider their impact on broader operations.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to build productive working relationships and support process improvements and data-driven decisions.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to meet required background check and drug screening requirements, including pre-employment and random screening when applicable.
• Valid Arizona driver's license and a driving record that meets applicable driving requirements.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This position is primarily performed in a production environment and requires:

• Standing for extended periods of up to 6–8 hours.
• Frequent sitting, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
• Regular use of hands to operate equipment, type, and write.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through computer systems.
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule
