Your Role in the Community

• Completing comprehensive assessments of patients, recommending diagnostic tests, and creating personalized care strategies
• Diagnosing and managing acute, chronic, or episodic health issues in collaboration with medical teams or independently (depending on your credentials)
• Providing education to patients and families about health promotion and disease prevention
• Prescribing adequate treatments and medications as permitted by practice regulations
• Engaging in patient follow-up and chronic disease management effectively
• Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive, holistic patient care
• Accurately documenting patient interactions in electronic health records (EHR)

Qualifications for Success

• MSN or DNP from an accredited nursing program
• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Essential Certifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in New Mexico
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent specialty
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or completion within 90 days)
