The Role
We are searching for a highly skilled Therapy Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of experts. Our candidates must be well-trained in Radiation Oncology and be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Clinic Information:
- This position is located in Norfolk, VA market and will be also supporting surrounding areas.
- This clinics you will support have both Varian and Elekta equipment.
- Treatment planning systems include Mosaiq, Monaco, Aria & Eclipse.
- This role will partner with a great team of several physicists, dosimetrist (onsite and remote), and physicians.
What You’ll Do
- Perform weekly and monthly radiation measurements, as well as yearly calibration on all treatment units.
- Monitor equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure that it is functioning correctly and safely.
- Maintain regulatory agency records and reports.
- Analyze alternative treatment plans and supervise dosimetry treatment planning functions.
- Implement assessment/treatment and care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
- Perform additional duties, as needed.
What You’ll Need
- Master’s Degree and/or PhD in Medical Physics.
- A board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board eligibility as demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency in therapy physics.
- 2+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret regulations.
- A willingness to go “above and beyond” for clients and fellow colleagues.
- Demonstrate initiative, organization, and ownership of daily tasks and projects.
- Ability to problem solve by seeking, developing, and implementing viable solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Requires ability to use and move equipment.
- Requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stopping, lifting, carrying.
- Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to radiation therapy setting.
- Occasional evening or weekend work.
