Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Child and Family Guidance Center is recruiting a psychiatric Assertive Community Treatment Program - Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for our mental health North Texas clinics. This position requires traveling to different North Texas clinics and working at different locations in Dallas and surrounding cities. Provides rehabilitative services designed to assist individuals in achieving an optimal quality of life, including symptom management, medication knowledge, physical health improvement, reduced psychiatric hospitalizations, and increased community tenure. Duties/Responsibilities Medication and psychosocial rehabilitation training delivered to each client during their psychiatric appointment and other clinic visits. Monitor patients and communicate with the healthcare team about patient progress, medication refill requests, lab results, and reporting lab results to the appropriate parties. Independently develop and implement rehabilitative services based on patient goals, medical necessity, and clinical judgment. Monitor and maintain patient medication and appointments spreadsheet. Track basic indicators of physical health such as lab work, weight, and blood pressure. Provide education on diagnosed mental health, medical issues, and/or reported physical symptoms. Administer medication injections for clients when due, in the clinic setting or in the community. Attend ACT daily staffing meetings. Perform client home visits as necessary. Complete all required documentation per agency guidelines. Travel to different clinics throughout the week to assist in medication injections and patient care. Receive and check in medications delivered from outside pharmacies. Perform medical triage of clients when indicated. Assist and engage patients in navigating clinic and lab appointments. Coordinate with insurance companies, pharmacies, and/or Patient Assistance Programs to ensure timely access to medications. Maintain inventory of medications held at the clinic. Participate in ongoing staff development. Maintain cooperative working relationships with all agency staff and community partners. Provide consultation to vendor agencies as required. Maintain client confidentiality and accurate case records in accordance with agency procedures and contract requirements. Be familiar with the Policies and Procedures manual. Prepare and present cases for supervisor review as required. Maintain professional certification and/or licensure, when required. Keep skills updated through professional literature and training events, when required. Attend staff and individual meetings as required. Perform duties without violating ethical, state or federal codes or requirements. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Provide services in alignment with efficiency and benchmark expectations. Promote agency services in the community and participate in task forces as requested. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge Understanding of diagnosis and treatment of clinical disorders and life adjustment problems, including treatment documentation and confidentiality guidelines for practice. Knowledge of service agencies in a community setting and expert knowledge of medications used in the treatment of mental illness. Education & Experience Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and be licensed as a Registered Nurse. Must be able to work independently, relate to consumers, employees, and the public in a professional manner, follow verbal and written instructions, prioritize, communicate effectively, adhere to policies and procedures, and go out on home visits. Must work a flexible schedule. Two (2) years of experience in a community setting with knowledge of rehabilitative techniques and community resources for chronically mentally ill consumers, focusing on medication management. Able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced setting. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player. Adherence to ethical, state, and federal codes. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs as required (up to 65% of the time). Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly in person and via telephone (up to 65% of the time). Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 10 lbs (up to 35% of the time).
