Associate Veterinarian
Location: Edgewood, NM
Job Type: Full-Time (In-Person)
Schedule:
- Four (4) 10-hour weekday shifts
- Rotating Saturday coverage
- Occasional weekend urgent care shifts with fewer weekday shifts to maintain work-life balance
- Flexible scheduling available
Practice Setting:
- Privately owned small animal hospital
- Outpatient and inpatient care
- Collaborative team environment with experienced veterinarians, six Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and dedicated support staff
Patient Population:
- Approximately 70% Dogs
- Approximately 25% Cats
- Approximately 5% Exotic/Other companion animals (optional based on provider interest)
- Patients of all life stages, from puppies and kittens to geriatric pets
Patient Volume:
- Established practice with a loyal client base
- Diverse daily caseload including wellness visits, preventive care, sick visits, surgeries, dentistry, and urgent care cases
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Associate Veterinarian to join a well-established private small animal practice. This opportunity is ideal for both experienced veterinarians and new graduates looking for strong mentorship in a collaborative environment. The practice emphasizes high-quality medicine, excellent client communication, and a healthy work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform routine soft tissue surgeries and dentistry.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results.
- Administer vaccinations and preventive care.
- Educate clients regarding treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive healthcare.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.
- Participate in urgent care cases as scheduled.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree required.
- Eligible for or licensed to practice in New Mexico.
- New graduates are welcome to apply.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for delivering compassionate, high-quality veterinary medicine.
