Assistant Cafeteria Manager - 2026 - 2027

Assistant Cafeteria Manager Child Nutrition Department. Reports to Cafeteria Manager. Position Type: Full‑Time. Salary: $16.70. Job Summary Assist the cafeteria manager in the efficient operation of the cafeteria services, assuming full responsibility of the kitchen when the manager is absent. Responsibilities Work cooperatively with the cafeteria manager to run the kitchen efficiently. Assist in training staff to promote efficiency, morale, and teamwork. Enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety codes. Prepare, serve, and maintain records for the breakfast program. Act as cashier during lunch period. Ensure food items are stored safely and hazard‑free. Use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources. Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance. Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions. Qualifications Education & Certification High school graduate or GED equivalent. Food Handlers Certificate within 7 business days of employment. Successful background check. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation. Effective planning, coordinating, and organizational skills. Personnel management and training skills. Time‑management and basic arithmetic abilities. Experience Minimum of two years school food service experience, or one year in food service management. Other Requirements Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year. Basic computer skills. Physical & Mental Demands Physical demands include frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 44 pounds, and operating kitchen equipment. Mental demands involve reading, concentrating, communicating effectively, and handling interruptions.
