Hospitalist

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharge planning for hospitalized patients.
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions presenting in an inpatient setting.
• Coordinate care with specialist consultants, nursing staff, and ancillary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient transitions.
• Respond to rapid‑response and code events, providing stabilization and emergency management during assigned shifts.
• Perform procedures such as lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and central line placement. Procedure backup is provided by surgery and ER 24/7, anesthesia for intubations, and respiratory therapy for ventilated patients.
• Deliver care for an average of 8–10 patients during the day and 3–6 admissions overnight in a 4‑bed open ICU.

Schedule & Workload

• Shift options: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• On‑site services include behavioral health, dental, emergency, and surgery; referred services include dermatology, endocrinology, podiatry, and urology.

Salary

Annual salary : $457,600.

Licensure & Certifications

• Active, unrestricted medical license (MD or DO) in the United States.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a related hospitalist‑appropriate specialty.
• Valid DEA, BLS, and ACLS credentials.

Desired Qualifications

• Prior experience providing care in the Indian Health Service, tribal, or federally qualified health center settings.
• Familiarity with the health challenges and cultural context of Native American or rural/frontier patient populations.
• Experience working in critical‑access or resource‑limited hospital environments.
• Comfort with a broad scope of inpatient medicine, including patients with complex, multi‑system disease presentations.
• Prior nocturnist experience or demonstrated comfort with independent overnight clinical decision‑making.
