Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care and overseeing all operations within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and assesses nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. They also serve as a resource for staff and exemplify a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, thereby enhancing the patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to the overall performance of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitates admission and discharge processes to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Engages in continuous evaluation of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
• Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
• Embraces a patient-first philosophy and participates in service recovery when needed.
• Contributes to improving staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, such as employee rounding and hourly check-ins.
• Offers insights regarding the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff. Recommends and executes actions related to training, conflict resolution, compliance with personnel policies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to ensure a competitive organization.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care requirements and established productivity standards.
• Ensures proper inventory management and assists in overseeing supplies and equipment.

Qualifications Required

Education:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Licensure/Certifications:

Required: (Certifications must remain current)

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas or a compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) with a 6-month grace period

Preferred:

• National Certification

Experience:

• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing

Preferred:

• One year of management experience
• Experience in Acute Care settings
