Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site OT/Hand Therapist role based in Hauppauge, NY. The OT/Hand Therapist will evaluate and treat clients with hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and cervical conditions, using evidence-based interventions to improve function, reduce pain, and promote independence. Responsibilities include developing and updating individualized treatment plans, fabricating or adjusting custom orthoses/splints, documenting care in accordance with professional and regulatory standards, and collaborating with referring providers, caregivers, and other team members. The role also involves educating patients and families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and adaptive techniques. The therapist will contribute to a supportive, patient-centered environment and participate in case discussions and quality improvement efforts as needed.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Occupational Therapy license (OTR/L) in good standing; NBCOT certification preferred.
• Experience or strong interest in hand therapy and upper extremity rehabilitation; CHT credential or working toward CHT is a plus.
• Demonstrated skills in evaluation, treatment planning, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional retraining for upper extremity and cervical conditions.
• Ability to fabricate, fit, and modify custom and prefabricated splints/orthoses is highly desirable.
• Strong patient- and family-centered communication skills, including clear education, empathy, and collaboration with diverse populations.
• Proficiency with clinical documentation, basic EMR systems, and time management in an outpatient setting.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team in a private practice environment.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, professional ethics, and ongoing professional development in hand and upper extremity therapy.
