School LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Newark, New Jersey

This position provides one-on-one care for a non-verbal student with autism who also manages diabetes and some respiratory challenges. Your expertise will ensure the student's daily well-being and safety, directly impacting both educational engagement and quality of life during school hours-Monday through Friday, approximately 8:45 am to 3:30 pm.


Key Qualifications:

• Active LPN/LVN or RN license (RN highly preferred)
• Pediatric nursing experience strongly valued
• Understanding of diabetes management and monitoring devices such as Dexcom
• Experience with non-verbal or neurodiverse students is a plus
• Ability to strictly follow established care and feeding protocols
• Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset

Core Responsibilities:

• Monitor the student's blood glucose levels through Dexcom and follow diabetes care plan as prescribed
• Administer feeding (pureed foods), and monitor for any issues related to swallowing or aspiration
• Observe and respond to any respiratory concerns, following the established care protocol
• Work in coordination with the building nurse to ensure care continuity, documentation, and timely communication with instructional staff
• This assignment focuses on the individual student, with no bus riding duties or reassignments
