Automotive Controller

Manage the general ledger, including reconciliations, issue recognition, investigation and reporting to executive leadership Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly budgets and reports Oversee the general accounting office and directly supervise office employees Develop, prepare, consolidate and interpret accounting and financial statements Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company policies Supervise, develop and strengthen accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Collaborate with operational and accounting departments Recruit and develop staff Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, statutes and regulations Perform monthly and year-end closings Work with the facilities department to review and track construction costs Work with manufacturers to implement, track and report on programs Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required preferred but not required 5-7+ years’ dealership accounting experience, including 2+ years at a leadership level Experience with CDK is a plus Breadth and depth of a wide range of accounting concepts, principles, and practices Knowledge of the company’s policies, practices and procedures Ability to work independently and apply existing methods, techniques and procedures Ability to supervise, coach, counsel and objectively evaluate employees, external partners and their performance Ability to develop and report on business objectives, including annual budget, forecasting, planning appropriate resources and making adjustments as market conditions change Ability to work with the facilities department on reviewing and tracking construction costs Ability to work with manufacturers and implement, track and report on programs Problem-solving skills involving related processes and methods Analytical skills requiring consideration of facts and circumstances and determination of action Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work and interact with employees at all levels in the organization Ability to communicate with customers, manufacturer representatives, vendors and occasionally government officials Ability to explain simple and moderately complex concepts, processes or ideas to all levels in the organization Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
